Meet the team – Andrew Brown

Q: Hi Andrew, can you tell us about your role at Epro?

I am the Operations Director for Epro, which means my role is all about ensuring the effective running of the business. My role is varied, and I work with a number of departments, including our product development teams, software developers, testers, project managers, and the people who look after our infrastructure and our support desk. There are a lot of different skill sets that keep our business ticking, and it is my responsibility to make sure that all those teams are doing a fantastic job and delivering an excellent service to our customers.

Q: What would you say is the thing you enjoy most about your job?

What I enjoy most about working at Epro is knowing that our products and services help make the NHS more efficient. We are a very responsive company and are fast to innovate and adapt our products to meet customers’ needs. This speed and agility is particularly important given the nature of the NHS and the fact that every trust has slightly different processes and workflows that we need to be able to support.

Another benefit to working at Epro is that we have a great team of people here. Everyone is highly skilled, whether that be our developers, our testers, or the team that designs the products. All of this means we produce high-quality products, which are truly designed and built with our customers in mind – something that is really important to me. I have always focused on quality throughout my career, so I get a great sense of pride knowing we deliver such a high standard of service here at Epro.

Q: Did you have any prior experience in healthcare before joining Epro?

This is the first time I have worked in the healthcare sector. I have always worked in operational roles and for the last 20-years in either financial services or quality assurance. I have worked in large corporate organisations and have also worked in a start-up. So, whilst healthcare is a different sector, the experience gained in previous roles is very much something I can draw on to help to ensure Epro runs smoothly and efficiently.

Q. What was it about Epro that made you want to get involved?

I was first involved in Epro just over two and a half years ago when I helped its founder and then sole shareholder, Dr Adam Towler, re-organise the company and appoint our current MD, Jonathan Elliott. Since then, I have been a non-executive director. 6-months ago we created a new Operations Director role and I felt that is was a great opportunity for me to join the team full-time and support Jonathan and Adam to help grow the business.

Q: Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

I am not very good at relaxing! To be honest, I actually like to be kept busy. However, I have two kids now and being a dad has certainly given me a new perspective. Outside of work, I love doing things with my family. We live in London and my son is a massive West Ham fan so we are season tickets holders. It’s fair to say football holds a special place in my heart – I’m going to watch England at the Euros in June, which I can’t wait for!

Q: Finally, what is one thing you would like readers to know about yourself or Epro that they might not know already?

I want the reader to understand that quality is at the forefront of the products Epro produce. We are passionate about helping our clients achieve their best possible outcome from their investment in our software. The company was created 20 years ago, very much with philanthropic roots with the purpose of improving the NHS. And while we now run the business as a more commercial organisation, I think this has added benefits as with more vigour and growth, we can help clinicians and patients alike by expanding and into more trusts across the UK.
