Epro showcased the latest version of its AI-driven clinical platform – which is being implemented by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust – at Rewired this year.
Developed in partnership with its community of over 60,000 users across the NHS, including 10 Trusts and Welsh Health Board, this year’s version of Epro delivers improved capabilities to the well-established EproSpeech. A module already used by trusts including Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Enhancements to the custom and medically trained language models and the look and feel mean it is quicker and easier for users to use the solution – with minimal clicks to do tasks and fewer amends to the automated transcriptions.
The platform also now includes the foundations for additional generative AI-capabilities that will be released later in the year and will supplement and enhance existing workflows by:
- Automatically generating clinic letters using information from transcriptions
- Summarising patient records using letters and case notes for a simplified, unified overview of a patient’s health record
- Bi-directional integration of the AI-generated summaries into any EPR
The new functionality forms part of Epro’s continued commitment to providing its healthcare customers with solutions that meet their growing needs, building on a partnership that has spanned more than 20 years.
Commenting on his experiences with Epro, the former CCIO for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “Epro has been a trusted supplier of Leeds Teaching Hospitals for nearly 10 years. Epro exists within a small cohort of suppliers who bring clinical insight, flexibility and critical challenge where necessary. I would have no hesitation in recommending Epro as an innovative, trusted partner.”
Johan Waktare, Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said, “Digital workflows including speech recognition should be a core feature of NHS organisations’ roadmap.”
