Q: Hi Dan, it’s lovely to meet you. Can you tell us a little bit about your role at Epro?
In my role as Head of Technical Services at Epro, I oversee three key aspects of the business. Firstly, I manage internal IT infrastructure, which involves handling laptops, PCs, and similar components. Secondly, I lead the support provided by the help desk, overseeing customer-facing support. And thirdly, I’m responsible for overseeing the deployment of our services to clients, ensuring the installation of applications for customers on our environments. It’s a role that keeps me on my toes, but I love it!
Q: What would you say is the thing you enjoy most about your job?
What I find most enjoyable is helping people. At Epro, the satisfaction comes from solving problems and providing a service that genuinely helps individuals. Knowing that our work has a positive impact is truly gratifying.
Q: Did you have any prior experience in healthcare before joining Epro?
The answer is yes and no. I’d say my previous experiences are adjacent to the healthcare sector. In my old role, I was an analyst programmer focused on delivering application support to a range of businesses. Ultimately, we dealt with technically intricate work, including metrology and manufacturing for various industries and businesses. For example, we worked on robots which are used to help during brain surgery operations by measuring the precise measurements and accuracy needed to carry out the operation – something you definitely can’t afford to get wrong.
Q. Wow, okay. So, what was it about Epro that made you want to get involved?
While Epro and its software applications differ from those in my previous line of work, the fundamental principles of IT support and delivery are the same. What I mean by this is that both jobs involve talking to a client, understanding their pain points and then providing an effective solution.
There’s never a dull moment working for Epro. In fact, one of the main reasons I was drawn to Epro initially was because it advertised that there was a lot of potential to develop myself professionally. Since joining, I certainly haven’t been disappointed. Three months after starting with Epro, I had the opportunity to expand my role and contribute to the growth of the company by taking on more team members. I embraced this challenge and have enjoyed the ride ever since.
Q: Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Outside of work, I have a few things I do to unwind. I love taking long walks with my dog, and I’m also an avid reader. These are probably my favourite activities. Sometimes, I also enjoy playing video games, but I don’t do that as often. These activities help to recharge my batteries.
Q: That’s great, Dan. Finally, what is one thing you would like readers to know about yourself or Epro that they might not know already?
