Job Purpose
Work as part of the Test Team to test Epro software solutions and mentor junior colleagues as required.

Main duties and responsibilities
A Senior Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the quality of Epro products is as high as possible. This will involve:
  • Serving as a voice of quality within the company.
  • Achieving and maintaining an understanding of Epro product functionality, including end-to-end
  • Customer workflows and usage of Epro products.
  • The generation of test plans, scripts, and other test documentation for Epro products.
  • The manual testing and sign-off of changes to the Epro codebase as they occur, and during release
  • Test phases.
  • The usage of automated test tools, and their future development.
Elements of experience
A Senior Test Engineer has good communication skills coupled with the ability to gather technical information and transform this into test documentation which will then be used to test Epro products to the highest possible level of quality. Further qualities and attributes that aid in the success of this role are:
  • A logical, methodical approach to problem solving, with a can-do attitude, but also not afraid to ask for help where necessary.
  • A self-starter with the ability to self-manage workload, targets, and priorities.
  • Ability to gather, maintain, and document a high level of product knowledge.
  • Experience in TestQA, including the creation and management of clear and expansive test documentation.
  • Knowledge of Testing methodologies and processes.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common goal.
  • A high degree of personal initiative with the drive, resilience, and ability to meet challenging goals.
  • The ability to communicate with all levels of the business and key customer contacts.
  • A strong technical knowledge, with the ability to use and configure command line tools. The ability to use scripting languages is of great advantage.

  • React / node.js / JavaScript with Selenium / Cypress

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a Computing discipline relative to application development

  • Educated to Bachelors level/professional qualification or equivalent experience

Experience of working within the NHS or for NHS software supplier

Quantify the length and type of experience required

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Test Engineer
  • Track record of testing software applications to the required standards, on time
  • Evidence of experience of mentoring junior development staff
  • Evidence of effective supplier liaison
  • Experience of integrating various NHS software systems.
  • Awareness of NHS Information Governance principles

  • Experience of implementing Continuous Improvement

  • Aware of Microsoft development technologies such as C#, ASP.Net, TypeScript, T-SQL and SQL Server
  • Aware of Open-source JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, React, and Underscore
  • Understanding of automated tests
  • Experience of managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Proven organisational and administrative skills
